Maldives Police Service has sent a summon order to Ahmed Naseer the governor of Maldives Monetary Authority.
A week ago, MPS stated that they are investigating the governor after Abdullah Ashraf the ex-head of Financial Intelligence Unit lodged a complaint against him.
Ashraf also requested the board of MMA and the Financial Committee of the parliament to investigate the governed.
A letter sent by Ashraf to the parliament states that the governor requested not to report high profile cases during the 2018 presidential elections.
So far, the governor has not been questioned by the police. Naseer was appointed to the position during President Yameen’s administration. Naseer met President Solih twice before the president took the oath of office.
