The leadership of the Progressive Party of Maldives and People’s National Congress paid a visit to President Ibrahim Solih over the arrest of former President Yameen.
The former President was charged with money laundering and was detained after the Prosecutors requested to detain him until the end of the trial. The PG lawyer claimed that he might tamper with evidence and the Criminal Court judge granted the request to detain the former president.
So far the president nor the opposition has revealed what was discussed in the meeting. However, PPM’s parliamentary group leader Ahmed Nihan said that they shared the concerns of the people who believe that the president is being held unjustly.
The leader of PNC, Abduh Raheem also said that the meeting was very positive.
