The government of Maldives has decided to open embassies in Russia, South Africa, and the United States.
Addressing the parliament today, President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih announced that Maldivian embassies will be opened in Russia, South Africa and the USA. Plans to open embassies in these three locations were made during former President Yameen’s administration.
At the moment the Maldives does not have any resident ambassadors Russia and South Africa. The permanent representative of Maldives to the UN is also the Maldivian ambassador to the USA and Canda. During foreign Minister Mr.Abdullah Shahid’s visit to the USA last month, he announced that a Maldivian embassy will be opened in the US capital as well.
