Former Home Minister of the Maldives Mr.Umar Naseer have said that he is ready to take up arms and fight to protect the sovereignty of Maldives if that is what it takes.
On his official Facebook Umar accused the government of India of financing politicians in the Maldives to make Maldives a state of India by 2030.
Mr.Umar Naseer is the most vocal Maldivian politician against the expansionist policies of India. Speaking to an Indian media Mr.Naseer described the Indian helicopters in the Maldives as a 21st century trojan horse and said that they will be used as a back door entry for Indian military.
Many people are worried with the way the new administration is engaging with India. During President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih’s visit to India in December several agreements were signed including defense agreements. However the content of the agreements were not disclosed. Meanwhile, last week the Defence Minister of the Maldives and the Chief of Defence Force visited India and held discussions to install Indian military radars in the Maldives.
